Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu: I will visit more Arab states “soon”
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Sunday evening that he will be visiting more Arab states “soon.”
Netanyahu made the comments during a joint press conference with Chadian President Idriss Déby, who is on a historical state visit to the country this week.
Government officially approves Kochavi as 22nd IDF Chief of Staff
The Government has officially approved Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi as the 22nd IDF Chief of General Staff on Sunday.
Kochavi will replace Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot on January 1st, 2019.
Defense Ministry purchases 360,000 donuts for IDF troops for Chanukkah
Jam and chocolate is the order of the day for donuts that will be given to IDF soldiers serving throughout the Jewish-holiday season of Chanukkah.
The Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that it had purchased 360,000 of these sweet treats to ground troops, commanders, as well as Air Force and Navy bases across the country.
The ministry also said it had purchased 16,000 packages of Hanukkah candles, 30,700 tin menorahs and 200 large menorahs for the holiday, which is slated to begin on December 2 and end of December 10.
Israeli runner smashes record, wins Florence Marathon
Israeli top runner Lonah Chemtai Salpeter won the women’s Florence Marathon in Italy on Sunday.
She took the title in a European-leading 2:24:17, breaking the Israeli record by more than 10 minutes. Chemtai Salpeter broke Israeli athlete Yelena Dolinin’s 2:35:59 record, which she won at the 43rd Berlin Marathon in 2016.
In August, the Israeli-Kenyan won the women’s 10,000-meter run at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, beating the Netherlands by 9 seconds. The 29-year-old was the first-ever Israeli to win the title of European champion.
Chemtai Salpeter also holds the Israeli records for 1,500, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meter races.
Report: Hamas refuses to establish buffer zone on border
Hamas has refused to a demand by Israel to create a buffer zone near the border, Arabic media reported on Sunday. According to the reports, Israel demanded that Hamas establish a buffer zone on the Israeli border, in which Gazans would not be allowed to protest, and Hamas will not dig tunnels towards Israel.
