Liberman: I was left with no choice but to resign

“I didn’t have any choice other than to submit my resignation,” Israeli Beiteinu Chairman Avigdor Liberman said Wednesday at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic conference as he accused Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of acting irresponsibly when he warned last week that Israel faced a very complex security situation.

“I think it’s irresponsible to discuss intelligence information with the public and it’s an irresponsible way to discuss sensitive security issues with journalists and MKs,” Liberman said.

Regarding hiw resignation as defense minister, Liberman added, “It’s no secret that I had disagreements with the prime minister about policy… It was irresponsible, from my point of view, to continue in this way… There is a time when you can’t be a cabinet member. You have to keep your commitments to your constituency.”

Livni: ‘If you want to shoot – shoot, don’t talk’

Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni spoke at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference on Wednesday, where she blasted the government for “harming Israel’s deterrence” by threatening Hamas without acting.

“If you want to shoot, shoot, don’t talk. Talking without shooting does the most damage to Israeli deterrence,” said Livni, adding that the government “needs a coherent strategy to weaken Hamas and bolster more moderate factions in the Palestinian Authority.”

Katz: “We are now close to a no-choice war with Hamas in Gaza.”

“We are now close to a no-choice war with Hamas in Gaza,” Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz said at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference on Wednesday, “We must strike hard to restore deterrence,” he added.

IDF distributes leaflets to Palestinians warning them not to assist Barkan terrorist

The IDF distributed leaflets about the terrorist who carried out the Barkan terrorist attack last month, saying that: “Anyone who helps wanted person Ashraf Naalwa risks punitive measures, including long prison terms or the demolition of his house without appeal.”

Those “found to be assisting Naalwa” were also warned that they “risk the cancellation of all special permits and work permits” for themselves and their family in Israel.

Last week, an IDF Military Court issued indictments against Naalwa’s mother and brother for not preventing the attack. Part of the Naalwa home in Shweiki near Tulkarem in the West Bank.

Naalwa has been on the run since October 7 after he shot and killed two Israelis in the Barkan Industrial Area at point blank range.

Erdan: ‘We are closer than ever to going on the offensive on Gaza’

Israel is closer than ever to going on the offensive with Gaza, including a return to targeted killings or even “holding on” to Gaza until Hamas infrastructure can be dismantled, Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan said Wednesday at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference. “If that is what we need to do that is what we will do to protect our citizens,” he added.
