Hamas senior official claims IDF was attempting to plant listening devices during botched mission in Gaza last week

Senior Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya has told Al-Aqsa TV, the terrorist organizations’ official broadcast network, that Israel was trying to plant listening devices during the botched operation in Gaza last Sunday, in which Lt.-Col. M. was killed.

“The Palestinian resistance was alert, and thwarted their plans,” he said. “This aggression is a clear violation of the cease-fire understanding.”

Egyptian sources say progress made in prisoner exchange deal, Israel and Hamas deny claim

According to Egyptian sources, real progress has been made in talks between Israel and Hamas on a prisoner exchange deal for the release of Israeli citizens, Avraham Mengistu and Hisham a-Sayid, as well as for the bodies of Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, who are being held by the terrorist organization, diplomatic sources told the Khalij Online website on Saturday.

According to the sources, the German mediator, who held secret meetings in the region in recent weeks, succeeded in bringing about a breakthrough in the talks.

However, a senior Israeli official denied the report.

In addition, senior Hamas figure Khalil al-Haya claimed that “Israel is not prepared to carry out a new prisoner exchange deal from its own considerations, and Israel has not taken a single step toward a deal.”

Palestinian report: One dead, two injured after attempting to breach border fence

Palestinian sources report at least one person dead and two injured after the IDF opened fire on a group of Palestinians attempting to sabotage the  border fence with explosives. According to the reports, IDF tanks opened fire on Hamas positions east of Khan Younes.

Netanyahu to meet with Gaza Belt municipal authority heads

Following public criticism of Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi’s comment by which “there is a difference between the Gaza Belt Region and Tel Aviv,” Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu invited Gaza Belt municipal authority heads to the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem on Thursday evening, in order to clarify his position.
