Netanyahu holds call with Macron

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel  Macron Tuesday, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement. The PMO said Netanyahu told Macron that Israel was exercising its right to self defense against terrorists operating from Gaza. He also urged the international community to continue its efforts against Iranian aggression. Netanyahu cut short a visit to Paris earlier this week, after an Israeli undercover unit was exposed in Gaza leading to a firefight in which an IDF Lieutenant Colonel was killed.  

Security Cabinet instructs IDF to “continue its operations as necessary”

The Security Cabinet said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon that it has “instructed the IDF to continue its operations as necessary.”

The Cabinet heard reports from the IDF and security sources about the attacks and the widespread actions taking place against terrorist elements in Gaza.

The meeting concluded seven hours after it had begun.

Security Cabinet meeting over Gaza escalation ends

The Security Cabinet meeting, which included Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, has finished following seven hours of discussions over the Gaza escalation.

Palestinian media reports Gaza factions agree to ceasefire

Palestinian media has reported that the Gaza factions including Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have agreed to a ceasefire to begin from 3:30 p.m. to give UN and Egyptian mediators an opportunity for negotiations.

Following the reported announcement, four sets of rocket sirens sounded across the Gaza Border communities.
