Soldiers come under fire north of Hebron
IDF soldiers came under fire at around 9:30 pm, near Halhoul, some five kilometers north of Hebron, a military spokesman said Tuesday. No casualties were reported in the incident. Two Palestinian suspects have been arrested.
Security sources told TPS that two Palestinian cars coming from the direction of Halhoul had approached a check point and one drove through the checkpoint and opened fire on the soldiers. The force returned fire and arrested to suspects from the second car. A search is being conducted for the car from which shots were fired.
Life sentence for terrorist who murdered Guy Kafri
The Haifa District Court sentenced Muhammad Shinawi, the terrorist who shot and killed Guy Kafri in the city in January 2017, to life in prison, Tuesday.
After an investigation, security forces determined that the attack, in which another person was seriously wounded, was an act of nationalistic terrorism against Jews.
The indictment stated that Shinawi, an Arab resident of the mixed city, had acted out of “hatred of Jews.”
Shinawi confessed to all charges.
Suspected knife attack thwarted in Hebron
Border police units arrested a Palestinian man who pulled out a knife on them at a security checkpoint at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, Tuesday. “The Palestinian has been arrested at the scene and questioned. The border police officers immediately prevented the knife attack. Regular security measures continue in the area, ” Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said in a statement.
Report: Head of Shin Bet met with Abu Mazen
The head of Israel’s Security Agency (Shin Bet) Nadav Argaman met with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu-Mazen) in his home in Ramallah last week, Israel’s Kan Ben Radio reported.
Incendiary balloons neutralized
Police sappers carried out a controlled explosion on two balloons in the Ashkelon Beach regional council Monday afternoon. Another balloon was neutralized in the area, earlier in the day.
