IDF hits terror operatives near Syrian border
An IDF aircraft fired at armed terror operatives on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, reportedly killing seven operatives. Upon scanning the area this morning, a number of suicide vests and an AK-47 assault rifle were discovered. “The IDF is on high alert and readiness, and is geared up to protect the security of Israel’s civilians,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.
Netanyahu cancels Colombia trip
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has cancelled his scheduled trip to Colombia, as a result of the security situation down south.
Security forces nab Palestinian terror cell
IDF and Shin Bet forces arrested an group of Palestinians that allegedly fired shots at the town of Bet El, north of Jerusalem, on July 10.
No injuries or property damage were reported from the incident.
Security forces detained the group, all of whom are residents of the Jilazon refugee camp adjacent to Ramallah, and another man who is suspected of aiding and abetting the attack. Troops also confiscated a cache of weapons and the car they believe were used for the attack.
The Shin Bet said in a statement that the Jilazon camp is a hotbed of terror activity, and that several terror cells have emerged from the camp.
Pipe bomb thrown at IDF unit during operation in Binyamin
A pipe bomb was thrown at IDF soldiers operating in the Binyamin region on Tuesday night. An IDF spokesperson said clashes broke out with local Palestinians, who threw rocks and a pipe bomb. The soldiers responded with crowd control measures. Light damage was caused to an IDF vehicle, but no one was injured in the incident.
Border Policewoman injured in Bethlehem riot
An IDF Border Policewoman was lightly injured overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday during riots in the Deheshia refugee camp in Bethlehem, as protesters assaulted officers with rocks and Molotov cocktails.
The Border Police, together with Shin Bet and Israel Police, had entered the camp to arrest terrorist suspects. Seventeen people were detained in the operation.
The military said in a statement that the army was continuing to battle protesters with riot control techniques. The wounded soldier received first aid at the scene and was evacuated to a Jerusalem hospital.
