Liberman to present civil defense program to security cabinet

5 July, 2018   |   7 years ago

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said Thursday that his office is working on a detailed civil defense program that he will present “soon” to the Security Cabinet. The program is intended to limit fatalities, injuries and property damage in the event of a natural disaster or a war.

“Last year we held the most significant exercise in years to respond to an earthquake. We have learned many lessons. One of them was the need for a multi-year plan to protect the home front, especially in the north.

“The Civil Defence program responds to both war and the earthquake. This month we will present it to the cabinet, and I am convinced they will give it a green light and a budget,” he said.
