Suspected Explosives and Ammunition Discovered in Israeli-Arab Town

During police activity in the Israeli-Arab town of Qalansuwa, a search of a house revealed several object that are suspected to be pipe-bombs, ammunition and weapon parts. The objects were seized and the residents, a 25-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were arrested.

Former President Katsav to Appeal Parole Board Decision

Former President Moshe Katsav has reportedly decided to appeal the parole board decision to not grant him early release from prison. He is serving a seven-year prison term for sexual crimes, including rape.

Earlier this week, Katsav’s attorneys requested to extend the deadline for filing the appeal until today, after Katsav reportedly did not want to appeal. Today’s announcement therefore reflects a change of heart by Katsav, who appears to have been persuaded eventually by his lawyers.

Netanyahu Reportedly Offers Defense Ministry Portfolio to Liberman

Netanyahu reportedly offered MK Avigdor Liberman, Chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu Party, the Defense Ministry porfolio during a meeting this afternoon in which the two discussed the possibility of Liberman’s faction joining the coalition.

In a statement, the Likud party said that the meeting “was conducted in good spirits and at the end it was decided to establish negotiating teams.” Liberman’s associates said that he and Netanyahu agreed to meet again later this evening.
