Missing IDF Soldier Found Dead
An IDF soldier who went missing several days ago was found dead on Saturday in a training zone near the base he served in the south.
Staff-Sergeant Adiel Fishler, 21, who was declared missing on Thursday, was found by troops searching for him near the Shizafone base, near Eilat. His weapon was found near him.
The Military Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of his death.
Hundreds of soldiers and air force servicemen have been searching for Fishler since Thursday evening.
Gaza Youth Infiltrates Israel, Caught and Returned Home
A youth from the Gaza Strip infiltrated into Israel on Wednesday night, was captured by Israeli forces and was returned home shortly after.
The IDF stated that the youth was not armed and was returned to the Strip after questioning.
No one was wounded in the incident.
Infiltration attempts on the border with the Strip happen several times a week, usually by Gazan Arabs seeking work in Israel. However, the Israeli forces treat each such incident as a potential terrorist attack.
IDF Captures Sudanese Infiltrator on Lebanon Border
The IDF arrested a Sudanese citizen who attempted to cross into Israel from Lebanon on Tuesday night, the army stated.
The infiltrator was captured inside the town of Shlomi, which is a fair distance away from the border.
No one was injured in the incident.
Incidents of the IDF intercepting Sudanese work migrants crossing from Lebanon have become frequent in recent months.
Israel in recent years has become a sought-after destination by work migrants from Africa, coming primarily through Egypt. Israel has built a fence along the Egyptian border to block the flow of work migrants, bringing down the number of infiltrators annually from thousands to a mere few.
It appears that the African work migrants are seeking new ways to illegally enter the country.
IDF Bombs Hamas Targets in Gaza in Response to Rocket Attack
Gaza-based terrorists fired a rocket at Israeli territory on Monday night that exploded in an open area, causing no casualties or damage.
In response, an IDF aircraft attacked an infrastructure used for underground operations by the Hamas terrorist organization in the southern Gaza Strip, and IDF tanks attacked the organization’s military positions on the border.
There were no reports on casualties in Gaza.
This rocket attack occurred after over a month of quiet in the area.
Israeli Forces Arrest 2 Suspected in Jerusalem Firebomb Attack
The Border Police’s Special Forces arrested two Arabs suspected throwing firebombs at an armored Border Police vehicle in Jerusalem last month.
Information from the Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Agency) led to an undercover operation in Abu Dis early Sunday morning and the arrest of two terrorists suspected of attacking the Border Police vehicle with Molotov cocktails while it was on patrol in the Abu Dis area.
The vehicle was destroyed but there were no casualties.
The two suspects, in their 30s, were transferred for further investigation.
The Border Police emphasized in a Sunday statement that this activity joins another operation from last week during which Border Policemen arrested a terrorist squad that threw Molotov cocktails and explosives at the Governor’s Post in Abu Dis.
“The security forces will continue to cooperate fully in counterterrorism and terrorist detention,” the Border Police said.
