Israel Bombed Iranian Targets, Syria Media Reports

21 April, 2020   |   6 years ago

The Israeli Air Force (IAF) on Monday night bombed Iranian targets inside Syria, the country’s state media reported.

Syria’s official SANA news agency reported that the Syrian Army’s air defenses “confronted an Israeli aggression” over Palmyra, East of Homs, and “shot down a number of the hostile missiles.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) quoted its activists inside the country who reported that explosions were heard in the eastern countryside of Homs, caused by regime anti-aircraft defenses which were intercepting strikes by Israeli aircraft launched from Lebanese airspace.

The strikes targeted three military posts of Iranian militias in the Palmyra desert.

Reports emerging from Syria indicate that Iranian officers were meeting with Hezbollah field commanders at the time of the attack and were apparently engaged in discussing future plans against Israel.

It was also reported that a number of people who were at the scene were injured.

Israel has remained silent on the reports, as in most previous incidents.

Israel reportedly last bombed targets in Syria on March 31when it attacked the Al-Shayrat airbase in Homs with more than eight missiles.

Iran’s military build-up in Syria remains a red line for Israel. The IAF has carried out thousands of attacks to thwart the Iranian entrenchment in the war-torn country.

Iran uses its positions in Syria to transfer weapons and infrastructure to its terror proxy in Lebanon, Hezbollah, while attempting to establish another military front against Israel from the Syrian Golan Heights.

Israeli has repeatedly warned it will not tolerate such a threat on its northern border.

Israeli-Arab Indicted for Spying for Iran

20 April, 2020   |   6 years ago

An Arab with Israeli citizenship in his 50s was indicted at the Central District Court on Sunday and was charged with spying on the Jewish State for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The indictment includes the offenses of maintaining contact with a foreign agent, disclosure of his decision to betray the country, delivering news to the enemy with an intent to harm state security, destroying evidence, money laundering and disrupting court proceedings.

The case was investigated by the Shin Bet security agency and the Police’s Lahav 433 unit.

According to the findings, the defendant, Ayman Haj Yihya from Tiabe in the north of the country, maintained a secret line of contact via Facebook with a Lebanese citizen named Khaled Yamani and who connected him to two people who presented themselves as representatives of Iran’s security forces.

During the encounters, the defendant provided information with the intent to assist Iran in its efforts to harm the State of Israel, the inditement states.

As part of the meetings in Budapest, Hungary, Yihya and the Iranian agents agreed on a secret line of contact that will be established upon his return to Israel, using an encryption device.

It was agreed that the Yihya would assist the Iranians on several levels, including by expressing opinions on other potential recruits, providing information from Israel on additional issues, as well as on security activity against the State of Israel.

The Iranians transferred a sum of € 5,000 to the defendant for covering his travel expenses to Budapest, as well as for covering future expenses entailed with his espionage activities.

Upon his return to Israel, Yihya converted the money to Israeli shekels in Tulkarem in the Palestinian Authority, partly for the purpose of disguising the source of the funds.

Later, he tried to send messages to Iranians using the encryption device.

During his arrest, the defendant attempted to break a Disk on Key storage device, as well as to remove a hand-held storage device used to maintain the encrypted line with the Iranians.

‘Provocative Attempts’: Israel Will Complain to UN Over Hezbollah’s Breach Of Border Fence

19 April, 2020   |   6 years ago

Israel will submit a complaint to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) against the Lebanese Hezbollah terror organization over its breach of the border fence on Friday, one of the most severe security incidents in the area in months.

The IDF found three locations where Israel’s security fence along the Blue Line with Lebanon was damaged. Troops were quickly dispatched to the scenes and there was no infiltration from Lebanon into Israel.

“This is a severe event. We hold the Lebanese government responsible for actions from its territory,” the IDF stated.

The three breaches were fixed over the weekend.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry stated Saturday evening that following the “provocative attempts by Hezbollah to infringe upon Israel’s sovereignty through a number of breaches at the Israel-Lebanon border fence,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz has instructed the Foreign Ministry to submit a complaint to the UNSC.

“The State of Israel thoroughly condemns these attempts to breach the border fence, and expects the Lebanese government to fulfill its responsibility to prevent these kinds of threats against the security of Israel, and of the region as a whole,” Katz stated.

Hezbollah has remained silent on the incident, which occurred just days after an Israeli drone on Wednesday carried out a strike against a jeep driven by Hezbollah terrorists inside Syria.

The vehicle was hit with two missiles which caused substantial material damage. The terrorists were not harmed.

Israeli sources estimated that the targets of the attack were involved in Hezbollah’s project to convert its vast missile arsenal to accurate and guided projectiles.

Other sources estimate that the Friday night incident on the border fence was a threatening message from Hezbollah to Israel.

Report: Israeli Drone Bombs Hezbollah Jeep in Syria

16 April, 2020   |   6 years ago

An Israeli drone on Wednesday carried out a strike against a jeep driven by Hezbollah terrorists inside Syria, several sources reported.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) quoted “reliable sources” which reported that the attack occurred near the Jadid Yabous crossing at the Syria Lebanon border.

The vehicle was hit with two missiles which caused substantial material damage, the report said. Photos of the scene seen by TPS show a destroyed vehicle.

Another report in the Arabic media said that the individuals in the vehicle managed to escape the attack unharmed.

The Lebanese An-Nahar news quoted a source in Hezbollah that the drone fired two missiles at a four-wheel-drive vehicle carrying two of its members, but neither was hurt.

The Hezbollah official said one missile blew up near the vehicle and the second missile hit after the driver managed to get out of the vehicle.

The border crossing is officially closed, except for commercial transit, as part of the measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, the report noted.

The Al-Quds Al-Araby newspaper reported that a Hezbollah commander named “Haj Imad” was the target of the attack.

The newspaper noted that “Haj Imad” had previously taken part in the Hezbollah battles with the Syrian army against the rebels in the al-Qalmon region near the border with Lebanon.

Israeli sources estimated that the targets of the attack were involved in the Hezbollah project to convert its vast missile arsenal to accurate and guided projectiles.

Israel has remained silent on the reports.
