In First, IDF Appoints Female Officer to Head Command’s Intelligence

IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi on Monday appointed Major General N. to head the Central Command’s intelligence division.
She is the first female officer in IDF history to lead an intelligence division at a Command level.
Major General N. stated that she “continues to advance proudly in the field of operational intelligence in the field and in military units. Proud to serve in the intelligence corps and excited about the responsibility. Thanking my commanders for the appointment. “
IDF Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle Drugs on Lebanon Border

The IDF on Sunday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive shipment of drugs from Lebanon into Israel.
IDF troops identified suspicious individuals on the border near the village of Rajar and dispatched forces to the area. They found the shipment of drugs and several cell phones.
The police launched an investigation into the incident.
One report said that the drugs were of the Hashish type and weighed some 40 kilos.
False Alarm Goes Off in South

A siren alerting of an incoming rocket attack from the Gaza Strip went off Sunday morning in communities adjacent to the Strip.
The IDF determined shortly after that it was a false alarm.
Israel has developed an advanced and sensitive system that alerts about incoming threats from Gaza. The system periodically sents off a false alarm.
IDF Captures 2 Infiltrators on Gaza Border

IDF forces on Wednesday night captured two Arabs who infiltrated Israel from the Gaza Strip.
The IDF stated that its forces arrested the two who crossed the fence in the southern Gaza Strip into Israeli territory. The suspects were unarmed.
No one was wounded in the incident.
Infiltration attempts on the border with the Strip happen several times a week, usually by Gazan Arabs seeking work in Israel. However, the Israeli forces treat each such incident as a potential terrorist attack.
In related news, Israeli forces carrying out counter-terrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria arrested 13 wanted persons suspected of involvement in terror activities and violent disturbances against civilians and soldiers. The suspects were transferred for questioning.

IDF forces operating on Tuesday night in the Arab village of Silwad, located north-east of Ramallah, exposed and seized tens of thousands of Shekels meant for terrorism purposes.
In related news, IDF forces carrying out counter-terrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria arrested seven Arabs suspected of various acts of terrorism.
