Jerusalem, 30 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) -- Students at Tel Aviv’s Zvi Shapira Elementary School hold an early Lag B’Omer celebration on April 29, 2026. Lag B’Omer marks the anniversary of the death of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, a 2nd century sage whose works serve as the foundation of Jewish mysticism. Jews traditionally celebrate his life with bonfires. The holiday begins at sundown on May 4. Photo by Gideon Markowicz/TPS-IL
