Hassidim Hear the Reading of the Megillah on Purim

Jerusalem, 24 March, 2024 (TPS-IL) -- On the holiday of Purim Jews around the world attend reading of Megilat Ester (the Scroll of Esther) from the Bible, which tells the story of how the Jews in exile in ancient Persia were saved from destruction at the hands of the evil Haman.

The Megillah is traditionally read from a scroll of parchment.
