Inside a Shofar Workshop

Jerusalem, 4 September, 2023 (TPS) -- The shofar, a ram’s horn, is traditionally blown on Rosh HaShanah, the Jewish new year. In Jewish thought, its sound represents a “wake up call” to rededicate life to God, and also recalls the merit of Abraham, who slaughtered a ram in place of his son, Isaac.

The Shofarot Israel shofar workshop in Tel Aviv is jointly run by Eli Rivak and Zvi Barshat, whose families have crafted shofarot for hundreds of years.
