Israel Readies for Shavuot – Last Holiday Before the Summer Season

Jerusalem, 10 June, 2024 (TPS) -- Children in the Ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem preparing for the Jewish holiday of Shavuot. The holiday celebrates the giving of the Tora to Israel in the Sinai desert. It also marks the start of the harvest season and so is a special holiday for even the secular kibbutzim – agricultural communes – in Israel.

The holiday of Shavuot will be celebrated Tuesday night through Wednesday.
