Jerusalem, 24 April, 2024 (TPS) -- A memorial ceremony was held on Wednesday for Leah Dee, 48, and her two daughters Maya and Rina, ages 20 and 16, who were all murdered by an Arab terrorist in a shooting attack during the holiday of Passover last year while hiking in the Jordan Valley Area.

Their car was found riddled with bullet holes. Leah, who was driving, lost control of the car. Investigators found 22 bullet casings at the scene. She was on life support at the Beilinson Hospital in Tel Aviv when she died, and doctors were able to immediately remove her organs.

The attack took place on April 7, 2023. Leah died three days later. Her organs were used for transplant. Dee’s heart was implanted into a 51-year-old woman, her lungs were given to a 58-year-old woman, while her liver went to a 25-year-old man. Dee’s kidneys were transferred to two men, ages 39 and 58.

One of the organ recipients was also an Arab.

Wednesday marked the first anniversary of their deaths, according to the Hebrew calendar.
The ceremony was held in the town where they lived, Efrat, located south of Jerusalem.

A few days after their murders, two Hamas terrorists who were involved in the attack were killed in the Kasbah in Nablus (Shechem) during a joint operation conducted by the Shin Bet (Israel’s ant-terror General Security Service), the Border Police, the Israel Defense Forces and Police Special Forces. The two were identified as Hassan Katnani and Ma’ad Masri.

In addition, Ebrahim Hora, who was described as a senior aide to the two terrorists, was also killed and two M16 rifles and a Kalashnikov were found in the apartment.

The Dee family moved to Israel from London ten years ago, where her husband, Rabbi Leo Dee, had worked in synagogues.

Leah taught English at Efrat’s Yeshivat B’nai Akiva Orot Yehuda School.
