New Israeli Army Recruits Begin Their Service

Jerusalem, 9 April, 2024 (TPS) -- New recruits to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) arrived at the Tel Hashomer military induction center located near Tel Aviv, where new soldiers get their uniforms, are officially registered and await to receive their assignments before moving on to wherever they will go through basic training.

In the IDF, soldiers go through basic training with their respective units, such as the various infantry brigades or the armored. So, first they are assigned a unit and then go onto training, unlike in other countries where soldiers go through basic training before being assigned to a unit.

Most Israeli soldiers know where they are headed before they are inducted, but still need to wait for final confirmation.
