Pilot COVID-19 Testing in Schools

By TPS   •   24 November, 2020

Jerusalem, 24 November, 2020 (TPS) -- Israeli fifth and sixth graders returned to in-person schooling today after a two-month break. Coinciding with their return to school, the Health Ministry launched a four-school pilot testing program for teachers and students. The streamlined test is an aggregate. All students in the class are tested, then their swabs are put together into one test tube. The test then reveals if there is anyone in the group who likely has COVID-19. If that positive result is received, the whole class will then take standard COVID-19 tests to determine who is ill. The picture, above, was taken in a pilot school in Givat Shmuel, near Tel Aviv.
