Thousands of Israelis gathered at the Kotel (Western Wall) to recite “Selichot” ( forgiveness ) prayers.

The Selichot are specials prayers that are recited during the Hebrew month of Elul, in preparation for Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur.
