Ultra-Orthodox Protest Against the Military Draft

Jerusalem, 14 April, 2024 (TPS) -- Thousands of Ultra-Orthodox Jews confront police officers as they demonstrate in front of the military draft center in Jerusalem. They oppose an end to the deferments their community receives from military service by studying in Tora study academies called Yeshivas.

Israel’s Supreme Court recently ruled that the deferments must be ended and further that any and all government funding for students at yeshivas who have not served I the military be terminated immediately.
