Veteran Politician Tzipi Livni Retires

Jerusalem, 18 February, 2019 (TPS) -- Member of Knesset Tzipi Livni, Chairwoman of the Hatnuah political party, announced Monday she is retiring from politics.

After her party was dismissed by the Labor party last month, polls showed she would not make it into the Knesset. Not wanting to waste votes on the left, she decided to retire.

The country’s left-wing leadership expressed sorrow and disappointment after her announcement.

Livni, who began her political career on the right some 20 years ago, has served as Israel’s Foreign Minister, Justice Minister, Absorption Minister, Agriculture Minister, and Housing Minister.
