Jerusalem, 28 March, 2016 (TPS) -- Prime Minister Netanyahu, who also holds the ministerial portfolio of Foreign Minister, is appointing Dani Dayan to be Israel’s Consul General in New York City. Dayan, the former “chief international envoy” of the Yesha Council representing the Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, is replacing consul general Ido Aharoni.

Dayan’s appointment comes against the backdrop of controversy in which Brazil rejected Dayan’s previous nomination as Israel’s ambassador to the South American country.
