33 Arabs Arrested in Law Enforcement Campaign in Eastern Jerusalem, Policeman Wounded

Jerusalem, 1 June, 2016 (TPS) -- The Jerusalem Police are conducting a campaign of arrests and law enforcement operations in the Arab neighborhoods of A-Tur and Al-Sawana. During the night, 33 residents were arrested for offenses such as participating in violent riots, terrorist activities, smuggling weapons, and drug sales. Eight more suspects have been summoned for questioning.

During the operation, a policeman was attacked by an Arab resident and required medical treatment. The attacker was arrested.

A police statement said the law enforcement campaign is meant to improve the eastern part of Jerusalem and turn it into a place that encourages respect for the law and economic and social growth.
