Jerusalem, 3 March, 2016 (TPS) -- Egypt welcomes the most recent French initiative for a lasting agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority as well as a planned international conference this summer geared towards once again restarting the negotiation process, according to the spokesman of Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Ahmad Abu Zeid.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman also said that specific issues related to the Palestinians still remain unaddressed and unresolved.

Abu Zeid’s remarks were made preceding a scheduled visit to Egypt next week by French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayraul’s, in which he will reportedly promote the French initiative to a number of Arab foreign ministers.
