Jerusalem, 13 July, 2021 (TPS) --

Facebook has shut down the page of the Gaza-based Hamas-affiliated Shehab News Agency.

A Facebook spokesperson stated Tuesday that the page was removed after Shehab continued to violate community standards.

“Despite recent outreach to its administrators regarding our policies, we have had to disable the Shehab News Agency Facebook page for repeatedly violating our community standards,” the statement said.

Facebook has “previously explained to the Shehab News team that, in order to keep our community safe and prevent harm, we do not allow praise or support for groups, leaders or individuals who have engaged in violence.”

The news agency’s page in English appears to be accessible.

This is not the first time Shehab News has been banned from Facebook. In 2015, the page was shut after Israeli students who are a part of a program to fight anti-Semitism reported the page.

Shehab has featured cartoons encouraging terror attacks.

Israelis have repeatedly complained that Facebook is not tough enough on combating anti-Semitism and incitement to terrorism on its platform.
