Jerusalem, 15 June, 2016 (TPS) -- Speaking at the 2016 Herzliya conference, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger spoke out against the idea of a comprehensive agreement between Israel and its Arab neighbors.

“Gradual interim agreements between Israel and the Arab states are preferable to a comprehensive and broader agreement, which countries will have more trouble keeping,” Kissinger said.

The former Secretary of State’s remarks were made against the backdrop of recent remarks made by Israeli officials including Prime Minister Netanyahu, expressing openness towards a modified and updated version of the Arab Peace Initiative launched by Saudi Arabia in 2002.
