IDF Nabs NIS 1.5 M. in Drugs on Egyptian Border

Jerusalem, 18 March, 2021 (TPS-IL) -- IDF troops were successful in thwarting an attempt to smuggle drugs into Israel on Wednesday night.

The IDF stated that its soldiers apprehended drugs worth about NIS 1.5 million on the Egyptian border.

IDF lookouts identified a number of suspects who tried to smuggle drugs from Egyptian territory into Israel.

IDF fighters thwarted the smuggling and seized about 60 kilograms of drugs worth about NIS 1.5 million and the smugglers’ vehicle.

The IDF transferred the drugs and the vehicle to the police.

Israeli forces periodically clash with smugglers on the border with Egypt, a major smuggling route for drugs, weapons and women into Israel.
