IDF Soldier Dies during Maneuver

Jerusalem, 7 January, 2019 (TPS) -- An IDF soldier on a routine training maneuver in the north was swept away by the Hilazone stream, which was swelling following the recent heavy rainfall.

The soldier was found by the IDF’s 669 Rescue Unit early Monday morning in critical condition, but medics pronounced him dead in the helicopter.

The soldier’s family has been notified, the IDF stated. His identity has yet to be revealed.

Following the incident, Commander of the ground forces Gen. Kobi Barak stopped all navigations in the army.

The Military Police has launched an investigation into the incident.

Similarly, head of the IDF’s the Central Command Gen. Nadav Padan ordered the establishment of a team of experts to investigate the incident.
