Jerusalem, 24 October, 2021 (TPS) -- IDF forces operating on Israel’s border with Lebanon were successful on Friday night in thwarting an attempt to smuggle guns and drugs into the country.

The IDF stated that its forces identified suspects in the Metula and alerted forces to the scene. The forces seized two handguns and 21 packages that contained about 9 kg of drugs, with an estimated value of about NIS 350,000

The IDF, together with the Israel Police, is investigating those behind the smuggling.

“The possibility that the attempt was made with the help of the Hezbollah terrorist organization is being examined,” the IDF noted.

Hezbollah operatives have previously been exposed as tied to the drug smuggling trade into Israel.
