Jerusalem, 1 May, 2016 (TPS) -- The internal affairs department of the Israel Police has published today the result of its preliminary inquiry into the killing of the Palestinian siblings, Maram Abu-Ismail and Ibrahim Salah Taha, who attempted a stabbing attack at the Qalandiya checkpoint on Wednesday,  April 27.

According to the results of the internal investigation, the 23-year-old sister and her 16-year-old-brother were killed by private security contractors employed at the checkpoint, and not the by police officer present at the incident.

The investigation has revealed that the policeman who was present at the checkpoint only fired warning shots into the air. When the knife wielding youths did not halt, the employees of a private security firm operating the checkpoint began firing directly at the would-be stabbers, resulting in their deaths.
