Jerusalem, 30 March, 2016 (TPS) -- Israel’s Interior Minister Aryeh Deri has made a first comment on the recent publications of a probe into suspected crimes he has committed.
“I was surprised, but I am working as normal at the moment,” said Deri at a conference at the Ramada Hotel in Jerusalem. “I hope the probe is sped up so we can continue working without disruption.”
It was cleared for publication overnight that a probe had been initiated into Deri’s conduct, but no more details are available yet. Deri has already served three years in prison between the years 2000-2002 following a corruption conviction for bribery while he served as Interior Minister.
