Israel breaks 2017 record as 3.6 million tourists influx into the country
Jerusalem, 18 November, 2018 (TPS-IL) -- Israel broke its all-time 2017 record for incoming tourism into the country, hitting the 3.6 million tourist mark.
This new record follows on from October’s record as the highest monthly record ever registered in Israel for incoming tourism with nearly half a million tourists visited Israel.
Approximately 486,000 tourists were recorded as visiting the country last month, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics, breaking the country’s previous all-time incoming tourism set in April 2018 by about 19%.
Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin said that these excellent statistics, which are recorded month after month, are a direct result of the Ministry of Tourism’s innovative marketing activities.
“By the end of 2018, the ministry expects to reach and even surpass the 4 million tourist mark,” he claimed. “An increase of tens of percent in incoming tourism over the past two years has placed Israel among the world’s fastest growing countries in tourism. Since the beginning of the year, the tourism industry has contributed more than NIS 18 billion to the Israeli economy.”
Since the beginning of 2018, there have been higher entries from several European countries including an increase of approximately 90% from Poland, 40% from Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary, and 35% from Italy.
