Jerusalem, 26 April, 2020 (TPS-IL) -- The government approved on Friday an additional ease of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, and on Saturday night shops on the street, beauty salons and hairdressers opened for business.

Shopping malls and entertainment centers remained closed, as well as the education system.

Ministry of Treasury Director-General Shai Babad told IDF Radio on Sunday that he hopes that at the next stage, immediately after Independence Day, the government will approve the opening of the rest of the trade sectors, shopping malls and the education system.

The government decided to place neighborhoods in the cities of Netivot and Beit Shemesh under full curfew following a high number of Coronavirus infections in these areas.

The IDF’s Home Front Command is intensifying its activity in these cities and has deployed forces to assist in the humanitarian efforts and help distribute food.

The entire country will be placed under a curfew on Wednesday when Israel celebrates its Independence Day as the government fears that mass celebrations will cause the spread of the virus.

The Ministry of Health updated Saturday night that the number of Coronavirus victims was recorded at 199.

The number of patients on respirators dropped to 99. Another 127 patients are in serious condition, 98 are in moderate condition and 8,439 are in mild condition.
