Jerusalem, 13 January, 2016 (TPS) -- The IDF striked a group of Palestinian terrorists in northern Gaza on Wednesday morning, killing one and wounding at least three according to Palestinian reports.

Several explosive devices were discovered during IDF routine activity, and a group of Hamas members were identified nearby, ready to detonate them and direct them at soldiers.

“Earlier today, in a joint operation with the ISA, an IAF aircraft targeted a terror cell plotting to detonate an explosive device against IDF forces stationed along the border of the Northern Gaza Strip,” read a statement by the IDF Spokesperson.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, IDF Spokesman, added: “Forces guarding the Border with Gaza face a growing threat from hostile terror groups attempting to destabilize the situation on the ground. The IDF will continue to protect the residence of Israel and the forces guarding them on the borders.”

Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack attempt, and Palestinian media identified the killed terrorist as 26-year-old Musa Assad Zuaiter.
