Jerusalem, 25 November, 2018 (TPS-IL) -- Israeli top runner Lonah Chemtai Salpeter won the women’s Florence Marathon in Italy on Sunday.
She took the title in a European-leading 2:24:17, breaking the Israeli record by more than 10 minutes. Chemtai Salpeter broke Israeli athlete Yelena Dolinin’s 2:35:59 record, which she won at the 43rd Berlin Marathon in 2016.
In August, the Israeli-Kenyan won the women’s 10,000-meter run at the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin, beating the Netherlands by 9 seconds. The 29-year-old was the first-ever Israeli to win the title of European champion.
Chemtai Salpeter also holds the Israeli records for 1,500, 3,000, 5,000 and 10,000 meter races.
