Jerusalem, 14 October, 2018 (TPS) -- Israel and Russia reached an agreement by which same-sex couples or single parents would not be allowed to adopt children from Russia. The agreement is in compliance with a Russian law passed in 2014, which enforces the same limitations.

Israel’s Welfare Ministry said: “The State of Israel and Russia have reached understandings to promote the signing of an international adoption treaty. The treaty is based on mutual respect to the law in each respective country, and is in compliance with the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, which the State of Israel has signed.”
