Jerusalem, 29 June, 2016 (TPS) -- A group of nine Israeli coexistence activists in two vehicles drove into the Palestinian city of Ramallah for a joint Israeli-Palestinian Ramadan break fast meal, when they were set upon by a Palestinian lynch mob.

One car was lightly burned by the attackersĀ but 8 Israelis managed to escape on their own, the Israeli military announced. The ninth was extracted by Palestinian security forces, who escorted him out of Ramallah and delivered him safely to Israeli officials.

The Israelis belong to the organization “Two States, One Homeland,” which announced that its members never felt threatened and that the Palestinian counterparts expressed their horror at the incident.

“The thing that most frightens those who want to preserve the status quo is Palestinians and Israelis talking and acting together,” the group said in a statement. “We won’t be scared off.”
