Israel’s First Lady Undergoes Lung Transplant
First Lady Nechama Rivlin, the wife of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, on Monday underwent a single lung transplant at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah.
She is currently in a medically induced coma, a standard procedure after such an operation.
Nechama has been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for several years. The transplant took place after a long period of waiting.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed his good wishes, stating “on behalf of all the citizens of Israel, I wish good health and longevity” to Rivlin.
