Israel’s First Lady Undergoes Lung Transplant

Jerusalem, 11 March, 2019 (TPS) -- First Lady Nechama Rivlin, the wife of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, on Monday underwent a single lung transplant atĀ Beilinson HospitalĀ in Petach Tikvah.

She is currently in a medically induced coma, a standard procedure after such an operation.

Nechama has been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for several years. The transplant took place after a long period of waiting.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conveyed his good wishes, stating “on behalf of all the citizens of Israel, I wish good health and longevity” to Rivlin.
