Israel’s First Lady Undergoes Surgery after Lung Transplant

Jerusalem, 20 March, 2019 (TPS) -- First Lady Nechama Rivlin, the wife of Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, on Tuesday underwent a surgical procedure after undergoing a single lung transplant last week.

The Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah stated that her condition is stable and that she is not in a life-threatening situation her life is in no danger.

“The operation was successful and at this time she still requires respiratory assistance, as is customary after such procedure,’ the hospital stated.

Nechama has been suffering from pulmonary fibrosis for several years. The transplant took place after a long period of waiting.
