Jerusalem, 11 October, 2021 (TPS) -- Several dozen Muslims rioted and clashed with the police at the Damascus Gate at the entrance to the Old City in Jerusalem on Sunday night.

The rioters threw rocks at police and set trash cans on fire in protest of damage allegedly caused by municipal construction work to a Muslim cemetery in the area.

The police used crowd control means to disperse the rioters.

One rioter, a resident of the city in his 30s, was arrested.

The Damascus Gate, one of Jerusalem’s flashpoints, has been the scene of repeated Muslim rioting in recent nights.
