Jerusalem, 28 June, 2016 (TPS) -- Education Minister and Jewish Home Party Chairman Naftali Bennett announced that he will be voting against the pending reconciliation agreement with Turkey in tomorrow’s Cabinet vote, after receiving an update on the agreement from the National Security Council.

“Reconciliation with Turkey is important at this time and to the interests of the State of Israel,” conceded Bennett. “However, payment of compensation to the perpetrators of a terrorist act is a dangerous precedent that Israel will regret it in the future.”

The terrorist act referenced by Bennett were Turkish nationals on the Mavi Marmara flotilla to Gaza in 2010 attacking IDF soldiers who arrived on the flotilla armed with only paintball guns.

Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked of the Jewish Home party is also expected to vote against the pending agreement.
