Jerusalem, 10 July, 2016 (TPS) -- After twelve days in which the Temple Mount compound in Jerusalem had been closed to Jews and to tourists on the final days of Ramadan, the holy site was reopened this morning. A first group of Jews entered and visited the site, which is the holiest in Judaism and the third-holiest in Islam.

The site had been closed after three consecutive days of violent riots by Muslims who gathered weapons inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the night, in order to attack Jews visiting the Temple Mount in the morning and prevent the visits.
