Jordan Abandons Plans to Install Security Cameras on Temple Mount

Jerusalem, 18 April, 2016 (TPS) -- Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour recently stated that Jordan would be abandoning its plan to install security cameras on the Temple Mount.

The announcement was made against the backdrop of threats from many Palestinians to destroy the security cameras following their installation.

Although the security cameras were to be installed in order as a prevention measure of “recurring assaults” on the Temple Mount such as prayer by Israeli Jews on the site, Palestinian objections centered around concerns that Israel would use the security cameras to investigate incidents of incitement.
