Jerusalem, 8 March, 2016 (TPS) -- Shortly before 5PM Israeli Police and Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics received an emergency call about an alleged fight between two adult men in the city of Petach Tikva.

According to Azriel Gross, a senior MDA Paramedic, a Jewish Orthodox man in his 40’s was sitting on the ground after having sustained several stab wounds to his upper body.

“We immediately administered medical treatment on the scene before evacuating him by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Next to him on the ground was a young man in his 20’s lying unconscious,” said Gross.

According to an Israeli police spokesperson, police officers arriving on the scene opened fire on the armed attacker and killed him.

Several eyewitnesses at the scene have claimed that the stabbing occurred during an altercation and a heated exchange of words between the two men.

The Police are still investigating the incident and it is still uncertain at this point if it was an act of terrorism or a random act of violence.
