Jerusalem, 7 October, 2018 (TPS-IL) -- Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Sunday that he has spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and that they would meet in the near future to discuss security coordination between the IDF and the Russian military. The meeting will be the first since the September 17 incident in which a Russian intelligence plan with 15 military personnel was shot down by Syrian air defense batteries during an IDF strike on an Iranian military depot supplying advanced weapons to Hezbollah. “Israel will continue to operate to prevent Iran from military entrenchment in Syria and to prevent it from transferring lethal weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon,” Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly Cabinet meeting.
