Jerusalem, 21 August, 2016 (TPS-IL) -- A ‘red alert’ rocket alarm sounded at 2:25 p.m. on Sunday in Israeli communities near the Gaza Strip. The alarm was triggered in the town of Sderot and in the Shaar HaNegev Regional council.

Security forces located the site of the landing of one rocket between two buildings at the Sderot industrial zone. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed the details, adding that there were no casualties.

Reports have emerged that the rocket was launched from the Beit Hanun area in the northern Gaza Strip.

Thousands of rockets were launched at Israeli territory from Gaza during Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014. A number of isolated incidents of rocket launches have occurred since,  despite apparent efforts by Hamas, who rules in the strip, to prevent this.
