Second measles death confirmed in Israel

Jerusalem, 20 December, 2018 (TPS) -- An 82-year-old woman has died from measles, among other illnesses, in Jerusalem, the Health Ministry announced Thursday morning.

This is the second death from the illness since the pandemic outbreak began earlier this year.

The elderly woman was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem earlier this month after falling ill from the sickness.

Last month, an 18-month-old from the ultra-Orthodox community died of the illness in Jerusalem.

The Ministry of Health said that as of Wednesday, 2,690 patients had been diagnosed with measles over 2018. It peaked in October in which 948 patients. In November ,there was a slight decrease with 893 patients, and so far for December there have only been 194 cases of measles.
