Jerusalem, 4 July, 2016 (TPS) -- During Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Africa, Tanzanian Foreign Minister Augustine Mahigah handed Netanyahu a letter from President John Magufuli in which he expressed his intention to open an embassy in Israel. The two met in Uganda at a ceremony commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Entebbe operation.

Tanzania renewed diplomatic relations with Israel in 1995, but has not yet established an embassy in Israel.  Israel currently does not have an embassy in Tanzania, and manages all its relations through its embassy in Kenya.
