Jerusalem, 24 August, 2021 (TPS) -- An Arab terrorist was shot and killed Monday by IDF forces who were operating to arrest a terror suspect in the Balata refugee camp, near Shechem (Nablus) in Samaria.

The IDF stated that during an operation to arrest a wanted suspect in the Balata refugee camp, the troops encountered gunfire from the roofs of buildings. The troops returned fire at the sources of the shooting.

In addition, at the end of the operation, a violent disturbance erupted, which included terrorists throwing blocks and objects at IDF troops from the roofs of buildings.

During the disturbance, the soldiers identified a suspect on the roof of a building holding a large object in both hands and tried to throw it at a troop standing right below the building.

One of the soldiers responded by firing at the terrorist, and a hit was identified.

Arab sources identified the terrorist as a 17-year-old. Photos of him circulating on social media show him brandishing an assault rifle.

There are no Israeli casualties.

The operation was completed and the wanted man, suspected of involvement in terrorist activity, was arrested.
