Jerusalem, 10 March, 2020 (TPS) -- A suspected Arab terrorist was overpowered by Israeli police officers after pulling a knife at the entrance to the Shalem police station close at Jerusalem’s Damascus Gate, an entrance to the Old City.

The man had attempted to stab the Border Guards at the police station, Israeli police reported. There were no casualties in the incident.

In a statement, the police added that the suspect was a resident of eastern Jerusalem and was arrested after the foiled attack.

Jerusalem has seen several terror attacks in the past month, with tensions high following the publication of US President Donald Trump’s Deal of the Century peace plan, to which the Palestinian Authority has expressed violent opposition.
